Ike Taylor thinks it’s time for Big Ben to rid off into the sunset.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were the toast of the NFL at 11-0, and then the wheels came falling off en route to a Wild card loss to the Cleveland Browns. Ben Roethlisberger could be seen seated on the bench in tears as he looked primed and ready for retirement.
Former teammate of Roethlisberger’s — Ike Taylor — is now endorsing the 17-year veteran QB to hang up his cleats.
“100 percent” former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor said on 93.7 The Fan earlier this week when asked if Roethlisberger should retire. “It’s the mobility part, and if you’re looking at the AFC North, the three young quarterbacks—they’re young, they’re mobile, and they’ve got playoff experience, and you don’t want to set your organization behind three years.”
“What I mean by three years, is you’ve got to wait for [Roethlisberger] to retire, hopefully you keep the same coordinator,” Taylor continued. “So the first year’s gonna be okay with the offensive coordinator, whoever the quarterback is. The second year they usually flourish under the offensive coordinator. The third year they should be able to sleep. They know who to pass it to.”
“They’re gonna let Ben rock out til he wants to rock out”, Taylor said of the organization’s plans for Roethlisberger. “You know the Steelers, they’re loyal”.

Unfortunately for Ike or any other Steelers fan who wanted Ben to retire, Steelers president Art Rooney II has already stated Roethlisberger wants to return to the team next season.
“I think we’d like to see Ben back for another year if that can work, but as we’ve said, there’s a lot of work to be done to see if that can happen,” Rooney said, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “There may need to be decisions to be made for that to happen.”
