Dez Bryant has been off long enough. He is ready to return to the National Football League.
The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver recently spoke with Jane Slater of NFL Network about his lengthy recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon, and his expectations for the 2019 season.
That’s when he revealed he is targeting an October return to the league.
“I’m way better than I was before I went to the Saints last year,” Bryant said in an interview with Slater. “Mid-October is when I’m going to be trying to get back in the league.”
That’s a complete change of mind from earlier this offseason when he stated many teams have reached out to him, but wouldn’t sign with anyone until his body and mind were ready to take on the toll of an NFL season.
Bryant also stated this offseason that he would give the Saints first dibs to sign him. The team currently have six wide receivers on their 53-man roster, but that’s subject to change.
