The age old question of “does Bill Belichick or Tom Brady deserve more credit for the Patriots dynasty” has reared its head once again after the departure of Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Former New England cornerback Asante Samuel decided to get that discussion going on Wednesday when he took to Twitter and posed the below question.
“I think Bill Belichick needed Tom to be successful. Do you think Tom needs Bill??? My answer is No,” Samuel wrote on Twitter.
Samuel, who was a Pro Bowl cornerback in New England, followed that up with stating how Bill Belichick is a defensive minded coach and Brady carried the team.
“Bill is known to be a defensive specialist. How many times did he have a top 5 defense and did they/we win the Super Bowl? Tom has always carried the team in his back with limited weapons. Josh McDaniel is the one who really raised Brady,” Samuel wrote.

Samuel spent five years in New England, tallying 22 interceptions during his tenure that included a 10-INT season in 2006.
