Retired NFL receiver Chad Johnson has not played in the league in February 2012, catching one pass for the New England Patriots during a Super Bowl XLVI loss.
Eight years later, Johnson took to Twitter to announce he has a tryout scheduled for Monday with the XFL as a kicker.
Via ESPN:
“A source confirmed that, as of now, the tryout is real.”
The 42-year-old was named to six Pro Bowls as a receiver, but he has also had a passion for kicking as he showed kicking an extra point for the Bengals over ten years ago.

Last month, Johnson posted an Instagram video in which he converted what appeared to be a 60-yard field goal.
XFL have different rules in the kicking game as there are no extra point kicks, and kickoffs are to be spotted at either the 25- or 30-yard line, making a touchback unlikely.
