Trevor Lawrence has long been the presumed No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, with many fan bases taking on the mantra of “Tank for Trevor.”
Off to an 0-6 start, the New York Jets are in the driver’s seat to grab the first pick of next year’s draft. If that does happen, Roddy White has some advice for Lawrence if New York picks first: go back to college instead of play for the Jets.
“If I’m Trevor Lawrence, if the Jets finish with no wins, I just go back to Clemson. … I don’t want any part of that organization,” White told The Big Lead.
“Because it would be awful for you to get drafted by the Jets because they do not know how to put anything together over there as far as quarterbacking, weapons around the quarterback, as far as anything that has to do with offensive talent,” the former all-pro WR continued.
Lawrence has thrown for 1,544 yards and 15 touchdowns with one interception in 2020 to lead the No. 1 Tigers to a 5-0 record.
It remains to be seen if we might get another “Eli Manning refuses to play for the Chargers” situation with Lawrence if the Jets end up with the No. 1 overall pick.
