A former NFL player whose girlfriend went missing back in April was arrested while on the run Friday in a Houston suburb for a bond violation. Kevin Ware Jr. was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force at a strip mall in Spring, Texas.
“Apparently a lot of people were very scared of this guy,” Dep. Marshal Alfredo Perez said. “I don’t know if they were scared of him because they heard the girlfriend was missing.”
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office told ABC13 in Houston Ware failed to show up for his bond supervision hearings in April and May.
His girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski, was reported missing by family members in May, weeks after she was seen at her own April 25th house party. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has said she went missing “under very suspicious circumstances and may be the victim of foul play.”
Last month, the case was turned over to homicide detectives, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Ware, a convicted felon, was arrested on April 19 for drug and weapon charges, but got out on a $23,000 bond. Witnesses reported a violent fight between the couple during a get together at his Klein-area home. She disappeared and Ware stopped showing up for court appearances.
Eric Zuleger, a longtime friend of Pomaski, told ABC13 before her disappearance, Pomaski made an outcry for help saying, “She was in danger, and she was in trouble. There was violence, she referenced a gun being pulled on her. She was very scared, very nervous.”
