Former San Francisco 49ers Star LB Aldon Smith, who hasn’t played in the league since 2015 with the Oakland Raiders, has been arrested for what is believed to be at least his 3rd DUI.
Aldon Smith found himself in handcuffs in Mission, Kansas on charges of suspicion of DUI, which was after he was initially pulled over for for speeding and illegally changing lanes, according to TMZ.
“More trouble for Aldon Smith … the ex-NFL star was arrested (again) for allegedly driving under the influence.
Smith — a former All-Pro linebacker — was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of DUI in Mission, Kansas … after cops say he was speeding and illegally changing lanes.
Officials says they suspected Smith was drunk, and tried to administer a breathalyzer … but he refused, so police issued him a citation for DUI.
The cops cut him a break by not arresting him, but just giving him a DUI ticket and letting a friend pick him up.”
The seventh pick in the 2011 draft averaged nearly one sack per game in the early years of his career, but was never able to secure reinstatement following an extended suspension.
Smith avoided jail time back in November after he was convicted in a domestic violence case.
He reached a plea agreement with prosecutors after facing charges of domestic violence, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism stemming from an incident in which he assaulted his then-fiancee. He was sentenced to three years of probation as part of the agreement.
