Dallas Cowboys stars Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott have been heavily criticized over the past few days after reports surfaced of a huge party they attended in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Over the weekend, Prescott reportedly hosted a 30-person party at his residence.
The police in Prosper, Texas reportedly responded to a complaint about the party, but were “unable to verify the report of a party.” The Fort Worth Star-Telegram added that a source close to Prescott confirmed there was a get-together, but that he “did not have over 10 people and was not in violation of any social distancing.”
It really didn’t matter how many people attended, because ESPN’s Marcus Spears was not happy about the report of Prescott and Elliott hosting a function while the rest of the country is trying to stop the spread of the virus by listening to guidelines.
In an appearance on First Take this morning, Spears, who used to play for the team, unleashed on both of them. He called the duo “tone deaf” and “dumb.”
“This was one of the most disrespectful things I’ve seen in a long time,” Spears said. “If you pay any attention to Instagram, television, the news that’s being reported, you see the devastation of what this is doing to the people that are having to treat COVID-19 patients. You see nurses crying on Instagram, concerned about taking this disease home to their parents.”
“The disrespect to do this and recognize that people that have to presumably take care of you after these dumb social gatherings that you should not be having, by the way, is the one that really irks me and rubs me the wrong way.”
