We have seen some disturbing things happen on social media before, but this one might take the cake.
Former Austin Peay defensive back Juantarius Bryant seriously thought he was getting a legit try to realize his NFL dream, only to find out it was all an elaborate hoax.
Bryant explained on Twitter how he received a message from someone claiming to be Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees. That message invited him to take part in Falcons rookie minicamp last Wednesday. The former All-Ohio Valley Conference performer arrived at the team facility in Flowery Branch when he would soon find out the opportunity wasn’t real.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has been in my corner while I have been pursuing my life long dream of playing in the NFL. Apparently the opportunity of attending rookie minicamp with the Atlanta Falcons was not a legit opportunity.
Someone contacted me from a 404 area code number pretending to be Dean Pees, the DC for the Atlanta Falcons. I did not realize it was not a legit opportunity until I traveled to the facility for rookie minicamp check in on Wednesday, May 12th.”
“It’s most definitely one of the most embarrassing things that has ever happened to me and a very humbling experience. Just want to apologize to everyone and the Atlanta Falcons organization for the mix up. I honestly thought it was a legit opportunity on my end.
