The state of Wisconsin is known as “America’s Dairyland” because of its rich dairy history and economy. Packers fans are thus often called “Cheeseheads”, hence the giant cheese-shaped hats they often wear at games. We’ll see if the Philadelphia Eagles pick up on this fan’s idea and start donning them at Lincoln Financial Field.
The tradition of the Cheeseheads began at a Milwaukee Brewers game in 1987 by a fan named Ralph Bruno. The story goes that Bruno took the foam out of his mother’s couch and built his own Cheesehead hat. And the rest is history.
The Eagles and Green Bay Packers will get extended breaks before their Week 2 contests. Philly will return home to host the Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football” in 10 days, and the Packers will host the Indianapolis Colts in their home opener on Sept. 15.
Philadelphia Eagles Look To Bounce Back From Tough Finish To 2023
The Philadelphia Eagles looked like the team to beat at the start of last season, jumping out to a promising 10-1 start that included victories over the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills.
But the team inexplicably imploded with losses in five of their final six regular season games before falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. Nick Sirianni fired both his coordinators and brought in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio to serve as the OC and DC, respectively.
