Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is being lauded after purchasing stuff he could have very easily gotten for free.
Wilson, who has finally gotten some action under center for the AFC North franchise following an injury spell, is understood to have bought his own gear from the team’s shop.
“RUSS BEING RUSS: #Steelers QB Russell Wilson went to the team’s Pro Shop and bought his own gear—even though he could’ve gotten it for free,” MLFootball posted on Friday, citing teammate Cam Heyward.
The unlikely gesture has earned Russ plenty of praise from fans online.

The veteran QB has quickly become a fan favorite following his trade from the Denver Broncos and has also received praise for his involvement in the Pittsburgh community as he has maintained visibility off the field, notably visiting a high school football player who collapsed during a game.
Russell Wilson led Pittsburgh to an impressive win over the New York Jets on his debut for the team, cementing his status as the starter despite Justin Fields’ performing extremely well to start the season and helping the team to a 4-2 record in his six appearances.
