The Dallas Cowboys have found themselves on the receiving end of some jokes following their Texas neighbors, the Houston Texans, pulling off a blockbuster trade for Stefon Diggs.
The Texans, who made lots of progress under rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans last season, have added another formidable offensive weapon for quarterback C.J. Stroud and are now being touted as “America’s Team.”
“They’re (the Texans) probably the best team in Texas,” lifetime Cowboys troll and ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith said.
“The Cowboys are no longer Americas team, they’re not even Texas’ team,” one fan tweeted.
“Cowboys fans were thinking he’d join them but he’s with the other Texas team instead,” wrote another.

Stefon Diggs Gives The Texans A Remarkable New Dimension
The Houston Texans have taken a huge step in terms of making themselves legitimate Super Bowl contenders by trading for Stefon Diggs.
The trade sees the Buffalo Bills receive a 2025 second-round pick via the Minnesota Vikings, while the Texans will also get a 2024 sixth-rounder and a 2025 fifth-rounder.
Houston was perhaps the most surprising team in the NFL last season as they went 10-7 and won a playoff game with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback.
Trading for Diggs and making other offseason moves could see them become a playoff staple for the next several years. The acquisition gives them a true WR1 option, and they should be considered a threat in the AFC, with Nico Collins also on the roster while Joe Mixon has come in as a running back.
The Texans have a top QB on a rookie contract and are not looking to waste time surrounding him with the best talent they can before he’s eligible for a mega-payday. General manager Nick Caserio has been keen on signing big names since the end of the season and has perhaps landed a game-changer in Diggs, who’s a four-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards in 2020.
