NFL fans had all sorts of interesting reactions after a prominent insider floated a surprise AFC Team as a possible landing spot for Bill Belichick in 2025.
Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots parted ways in January after 23 seasons together, ending an unprecedented run that included nine AFC Championships and six Super Bowl trophies.
Many assumed that Belichick would be the most sought-after free agent in the 2024 NFL head coaching hiring cycle. Surprisingly, the Atlanta Falcons were the only team who interviewed the 72-year-old, and they wound up hiring ex-Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for the role.
During his appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show”, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that the 0-3 Jacksonville Jaguars are a “sneaky” contender to hire Bill Belichick next year:
“They’re just a sneaky one with Belichick for me. (Jaguars chief football strategy officer) Tony Khan has a really strong relationship with Bill Belichick….there is some things that line up there where I wouldn’t totally rule that as a viable possibility for Belichick in 2025.”

NFL fans had all sorts of interesting reactions to Breer’s report that the Jaguars could pursue the eight-time Super Bowl champion to succeed Doug Pederson as head coach:
During his interview with Patrick, Breer added that Bill Belichick actually advised the Jaguars to remove the HC interim tag from Doug Marrone in 2017, a strong indicator of how much Jacksonville ownership values him.
The Jaguars will try and pick up their first win of 2024 when they visit CJ Stroud and the AFC South rival Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday.
Bill Belichick & The Jaguars Are A Perfect Match
Only Belichick knows which kind of team he’d want to coach, but it’s safe to say that the 72-year-old wouldn’t be keen on joining a rebuilding organization at this phase of his life. The Jaguars are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and they just need the right coach to put it together.
Belichick could do a lot worse than a team with Trevor Lawrence, Christian Kirk, Travis Etienne Jr., Brian Thomas Jr., Evan Engram, Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen. So it’s the perfect situation for him, assuming the Jaguars would have interest.
