A former star player for the Minnesota Vikings was arrested in the Twin Cities on Saturday.
According to Carver County Jail logs, which can be accessed online, the erstwhile defensive end was booked into jail at 12:42 PM on the day and released an hour later.
Griffen, 35, was booked on probable cause charges of driving while intoxicated in Chanhassen, but it’s unknown as to whether the charges were actually filed.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Griffen played 10 years with the Vikings before leaving in 2020 and taking up brief spells with the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. He returned to the Vikings for another season in 2021.
Griffin resides in Mound, Minnesota.
The former defensive star has struggled with mental health issues and, two years ago, he revealed he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The announcement followed two major episodes in Minnesota.

In one incident taking place in 2021, Griffen posted several videos to Instagram showing a handgun he claimed former teammate Dalvin Cook helped him acquire while asserting that intruders were attempting to get into his house.
Police found no one in the area and the former player refused to leave his home for several hours. He eventually allowed the authorities to transport him to a mental health facility following conversations with police and Vikings team psychologists.
