Nothing makes a parody account happier than when a big time network picks up one of their fake stories. They spend all their time trying to make their stuff look real. Then, finally, it works! Someone gets duped!
It happens all the time. And we saw it once again earlier this week, when ESPN’s SportsCenter referenced a fake story from Ballsack Sports, about how a text exchange with LeBron James inspired Tom Brady to return for another season.
In case you haven’t figured it out yet (don’t feel bad, SportsCenter didn’t either), that text exchange never happened. It was made up and posted by an account called Ballsack Sports, for crying out loud! Does that not present an immediate red flag?
Not to the people at ESPN, the WorldWide leaders at getting duped!
