Bills punter Matt Araiza and two other former San Diego State University football players have been accused of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl at a party last year.
Araiza, who was picked in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, was accused of having sex with the girl outside of the home. After his encounter, he then brought her inside a room where she allegedly was repeatedly raped.
On Twitter, ESPN’s Mina Kimes commented on the situation, but it came with some backlash from one troll.
One troll responded to her initial tweet with: “Time to start blaming the 17 year old High school student going to a college party, illegally drinking, and trying to get with older guys. But yes, lets just blame the guys when something “allegedly” happened. Horrible decision on the girls part to go to a college party at 17.”
Kimes responded perfectly for the reason why so many women never come forward:
The lawsuit alleges the incident happened at a Halloween party between Oct. 16 and 17 when the teen was plied with a drink that “not only contained alcohol, but other intoxicating substances” and assaulted by multiple men.

In a statement to USA Today, the Bills said the team was “recently made aware of a civil complaint involving Matt from October 2021” and “due to the serious nature of the complaint, we conducted a thorough examination of this matter. As this is an ongoing civil case legal, we will have no other comment at this point.”
Kerry Armstrong, a lawyer for Araiza, told the Los Angeles Times the allegations are false, and that a hired investigator said witnesses have contradicted the accusations.
“It’s a shakedown because he’s now with the Buffalo Bills,” Armstrong said. “There is no doubt in my mind that Matt Araiza ever raped that girl.”
