ESPN’s “SportsCenter” account has been doing its best to keep up with everything pop culture related and making it sports related to show how they are in tune with the youngsters. It failed in a big way on Monday.
Following the season two finale of HBO’s hit show “Euphoria,” ESPN threw up a post captioned, “Name an athlete as fearless as this guy,” referring to the character Ashtray. Fans blasted them in the comments so much that they were forced to delete it.
They would soon release a statement, saying, “The content posted was not in alignment with ESPN’s brand and we removed it.”
Ashtray is a character that is a 13-year-old drug dealer with two murders on his resume.
Yeah, the tweet was in poor taste, especially given what is going on with Ukraine and Russia at the moment.
