The Dallas Cowboys fan base is going nuts on Thursday after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that while Seattle Seahawks’ Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t demanded a trade, he also has a wish list in case that scenario comes to pass.
The Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints are Wilson’s targets.
ESPN decided to put out a trade proposal for the Cowboys and what they would have to give up in order to get Wilson.
“Multiple first-round picks at the least,” wrote NFL analyst Todd Archer, via ESPN.com. “The Cowboys have the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft, which would help, but they would have to give up future first-rounders if not more picks and maybe some players just to land him. And if you’re asking about trading Dak Prescott, well, they can’t. He’s a free agent and even if they place the franchise tag on him for a second straight year, Prescott would have to sign the tender before any trade could be facilitated.”
They continued:
“Anything is doable, but the Cowboys are committed to Prescott. They have made him their priority and believe he is their quarterback for the present and future. If the Cowboys get frustrated in upcoming talks with Prescott’s agent regarding a long-term contract, perhaps they visit this option, but it seems remote at best.”
Trading for Russell Wilson is doable but doesn’t seem smart on the Cowboys side as they have more pressing issues with their defense they was downright terrible in 2020. No QB is overcoming that as shown by Dak putting up 30+ and still losing before he went down with an injury.
