ESPN made a raunchy gaffe on Night 1 of the NFL Draft this Thursday, though through no fault of their own.
The network hosted the first round along with ABC and NFL Network, and an untimely fan left them looking a bit perverted for a few seconds while the Atlanta Falcons were on the clock. The Falcons surprisingly made Michael Penix Jr. the No. 8 overall pick, and the gaffe took place just moments before he was announced.
We don’t need to tell you why fans think the quarterback’s last name is funny. The fact that this happened while the Falcons were prepping to make him their first-round choice made it even worse.
Check it out right below:
Michael Penix Jr. Wasn’t Invited To The NFL Draft
Penix wasn’t invited to the draft for fear of another Will Levis situation. The Tennessee Titans QB was tipped to be an early first-round pick last year but had to sit awkwardly through the first night as he never heard his name called.

The NFL was keen to avoid repeating this in 2024 and opted not to invite several top players, including Penix.
As it turned out, the former Washington Huskies star went 8th overall, much to the surprise of everyone, more so Kirk Cousins, who was signed to a four-year, $180 million deal by the Falcons.
What’s more, Cousins wasn’t informed of the team’s plans until they were on the clock, which is around the time that gaffe took place.
The Falcons have reiterated that Cousins will be their main man moving forward while Penix will be a player to take over from him in the future. Still, the veteran was reportedly unhappy with the decision.
