Following a season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions, ESPN thinks the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty may already be over.
On ESPN’s “The Get Up”, the roundtable question for debate was “Is This The Beginning Of The End For The Chiefs’ Dynasty?” following last night’s 21-20 home loss to the Lions. Analysts were asked if this was a sign for things to come from the 2-time Super Bowl Champions or just another loss.
Though today’s sports thrives on Hot Take culture, it should be noted that last night’s loss was one game. Star Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was without his top receiving threat in Tight End Travis Kelse, and the receivers he did have dropped 4 passes, including one that led to a pick-6 from rookie Safety Brian Branch. Kansas City, who played good defense, was also without star Defensive Lineman Chris Jones, who is in the middle of a contract holdout.
In ESPN’s defense, a good point was made about the money tied up in Patrick Mahomes and other top players that could keep them out of free agency, but at the end of the day, this is week one. The Chiefs have 16 more games.
