Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield have been the most mentioned quarterbacks during the offseason as their current teams have found trouble finding a trade partner.
Both Cleveland and San Francisco made moves to replace their former starting quarterbacks, with the Browns trading for Deshaun Watson, and the 49ers drafting Trey Lance last year.
Watson is reportedly bracing for a year-long suspension in the wake of two dozen sexual misconduct lawsuits — 20 of which he settled, the accusers’ attorney announced Tuesday
ESPN’s Jake Trotter suggested that the Browns could “look for another quarterback trade” — and the 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo could be a target.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported earlier this month that a straw poll of various NFL executives, coaches, and agents found a majority of them believe Garoppolo and Mayfield will be released.
There hasn’t been any trade speculation around Garoppolo in months, while Mayfield has had specualtion surrounding him by either the Panthers or Seahawks.
In 2021, Mayfield appeared in 14 games and completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 3,010 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown.
