Former NFL cornerback and current ESPN host Domonique Foxworth ruthlessly went off on Cam Newton following the latter’s comments on four big-named NFL quarterbacks.
During the latest edition of his podcast, the 2015 league MVP called Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers), Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys), Jared Goff (Detroit Lions) and Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins) game managers.
Newton’s comments predictably drew plenty of criticism. Purdy and Prescott are the MVP front-runners heading into Week 15, while Goff and Tagovailoa have their respective clubs in position to win division titles.
Speaking on “Get Up”, Foxworth went off on Newton over his “game manager comments”, accusing the former Carolina Panthers’ superstar of simply saying “wild stuff” in order to get more attention on his podcast:
“He wants you to download, rate and review. He’s saying some wild stuff so he can get on ‘Get Up.’ So please do that man a favor because that’s absurd. Dak Prescot?! When he said Dak’s name, I was like, ‘he’s telling jokes right now.'”
Entering Week 15, Tagovailoa needs the league in passing yards with 3,697. Prescott leads all QBs with 28 touchdowns, and Purdy is tied with Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills) for second with 25. Tagovailoa himself is fourth with 24.

Goff hasn’t been half bad himself, ranking eighth in the league with 23 touchdown passes and sixth in passing yards with 3,449.
So with all due respect to Newton, it’s awfully difficult to argue that these four QBs are simply game managers. Let’s also keep in mind where Miami was before Tagovailoa arrived in 2020, and how the Cowboys faltered when Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 campaign.
