Last week, newly released text messages sent by Brett Favre show that the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback was more involved in pushing for millions of federal welfare funds to be diverted in his home state of Mississippi than previously known.
It’s a story that should be getting way mroe traction since it involves a former multi-million dollar QB taking money from people who actually need it. However, this story has only really gotten viral on social media.
The messages showed that Favre pushed for at least $5 million in funds initially intended to help poor families instead to be paid toward a new volleyball facility at his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, where his daughter played the sport. His messages then show him seeking reassurance that the public would never become aware that he was attempting to receive millions in grants that were coming from the Mississippi welfare agency.
That is disgusting behavior.
Yet still..not much from ESPN. Social media wanted answers.

We should note that Stephen A. Smith has addressed the matter.
Brett Favre is a Hall of Fame football player who was a titan on the football field who carries a less than sterling reputation off it.
We knew this already because back in 208, he sent lewd photos to former New York Jets gameday host Jenn Sterger after asking Jets personnel to acquire her number. He also left her voice mails, asking her to come to his hotel room.
It took two years for that story to reach the National media, and it appears the national media is back to drag their feet again on this one.
