ESPN SportsCenter host Victoria Arlen is no stranger to being in bad health as she once fell ill at the age of 11 with two rare, and potentially fatal, neurological disorders called transverse myelitis and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
She had issues this month as well with her health.
Molly Qerim is out for vacation so Victoria Arlen stepped in to host ESPN’s First Take this week. This was incredible for her given that she spent the week prior in the hospital following complications from surgery.
Arlen revealed on Instagram that she was recently hospitalized. Arlen explained that an unspecified surgery “took a scary turn” and “knocked me off my feet to say the least.”
“First Day wearing ‘real’ clothes in a week,” Arlen wrote alongside photos of her on the ESPN set and one in a hospital bed. “Thank you to the amazing nurses, docs, surgeons and my family who took amazing care of me and helped me get back on my feet. And thank you everyone for your messages and prayers … it means more than you know.”

Arlen didn’t share the specifics of her surgery or the complications that resulted in her week-long stay.
Arlen is an author, Paralympic gold medalist, ESPN host and reporter, motivational speaker, and most of all, a survivor.
Among her many other accomplishments is her setting a world record in swimming at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, and being a contestant on the “Dancing With the Stars” television show. She also hosted “American Ninja Warrior Jr.” in 2022.
Arlen also founded the nonprofit Victoria’s Victory Foundation to assist others with mobility challenges to achieve their goals.
Many prayers to her for her continued recovery.
