On Tuesday, ESPN executive vice president Rob King took to social media and announced he had decided he was going to leave the company.
He did not mention why but stated that it was simply time.
“After nearly 20 years with ESPN, I have decided the time is right for me to leave the company. I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends, and wish the company continued success,” he wrote.
It turns out that it was not actually his decision.
Per the New York Post, ESPN actually fired him after he was accused of harassment. ESPN and King both declined to comment when they reached out for comment on the matter.
King, who had been with the company for nearly two decades, had been a rising star at ESPN. He served as head of the organization’s flagship program “SportsCenter” in 2017. He also helped lead ESPN’s Inclusive Content Committee.
