ESPN made an embarrassing error with their on-screen graphic during Jim Harbaugh’s introductory press conference this Thursday.
Harbaugh, who led Michigan to a National Championship last month, is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, having stepped in as a replacement for Brandon Staley following his firing during the season. His return to the NFL is a pretty big deal, so all of the major networks were around to cover his first presser.
ESPN, The Worldwide Leader In Sports, broadcast the event via NFL Live but made a mistake as they put a graphic on the screen claiming the Chargers finished last in the NFC West this season.
While the Chargers did finish last in their division with a 5-12 record, they actually play in the AFC West. It appears ESPN’s graphic person confused them with the Los Angeles Rams, who play in the NFC West and finished second therein, having gone 10-7.
In any case, Harbaugh’s looking to turn things around quickly in L.A. as he has said that he intends to win “multiple championships” with the team.
