Baker Mayfield needs a new team.
Back in April 2018, he was on top of the world after the Cleveland Browns made him the first overall pick in the NFL draft, but now less then four years later, he and the franchise are getting set to divorce from each other.
While appearing on the YNK Podcast, Mayfield didn’t hold back when asked if he felt disrespected by Cleveland’s pursuit of Deshaun Watson.
“One hundred percent,” Mayfield said. “I was told one thing and they completely did another.”
So, where will Mayfield end up?
ESPN analyst Matt Miller thinks the Carolina Panthers “need” to pull off a trade for Mayfield in the near future.
“Should they draft a quarterback?” Miller asked. “Absolutely not. … The move the Carolina Panthers need to make if they want to save their jobs? Trade for Baker Mayfield.”

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said the most likely landing spot for Mayfield is Carolina.
“I haven’t gotten any sense at all that the Seahawks are that interested,” he said during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “… “To me the Carolina Panthers seem to be the most likely spot for Baker Mayfield… The Buccaneers would make some sense to me as well.”
After giving the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs all they could handle in a Week 1 loss, Mayfield suffered a shoulder injury the following week and could not duplicate his 2020 season where he led the team to the playoffs.
Mayfield threw just 17 touchdown passes against 13 interceptions and finished the season 28th in QBR. To add insult to literal injury, Cleveland also missed the playoffs.
He went 29-30 as a starter overall for the Browns.
