The Joe Burrow vs. Justin Herbert debate has taken an incredible turn this week.
ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum has weighed in on the debate. During an appearance on “Get Up” he told his colleagues the Bengals should regret drafting Burrow over Herbert:
“Yes, I said it before the draft and I’m still saying it. When you go head-to-head with Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert is bigger, stronger, faster and more athletic. If you would have put Herbert in that LSU offense – Burrow’s numbers were phenomenal, but Herbert’s would have been as good or even better.”
Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is most certainly the Cincinnati Bengals’ franchise player. He was only able to appear in 10 games last season before the injury, completing 65.3% of his passes for 2,688 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.
“I like Joe Burrow, he’ll be a good NFL quarterback, but Justin Herbert has a chance to be a great NFL quarterback. And that’s why I would have taken him first.”
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says Burrow is healthy.

“I think he can probably throw it 90 yards right now,” Taylor said. “It’s exciting, he looks really good and I know a lot has been made about the arm strength and the velocity and all that but he’s throwing the ball on time where it needs to go and that’s what I’m pleased about.”
Burrow even updated reporters on his knee and how his body was feeling .
“It feels good,” Burrow said after his first workout this summer. “We’ve been doing basically what I did out there today, we’ve been doing it for the last month so it wasn’t anything new, but it was just with moving targets out there. It wasn’t any big step or anything like that, it was just fun to be back out there.
