Despite four excellent divisional round games over the weekend, it would be Aaron Rodgers being eliminated from the postseason that became a hot topic on social media.
ESPN analyst Marcus Spears did not mince a single word when discussing Rodgers when he gave his opinion on the direction the Packers’ brass should move when it comes to their franchise quarterback.
“Green Bay needs to cut ties,” Spears said. “They need to stop being held hostage, and start the next measure as a franchise of the direction they want to go. I have not seen so much fuss, to get so much nothing, for a number of years. It’s been a lot of fuss, and a lot of nothing, in Green Bay.”
Spears then went on to compare the Packers with the Baltimore Ravens.
“What’s the difference between Green Bay and the Baltimore Ravens?” Spears continued. “The Ravens win a lot of regular season games, they go to the playoffs. They are a team that’s constantly fighting trying to get a Super Bowl bid. And they don’t have the guy that we consider one of the top five to ever play the quarterback position. Cut ties and move forward, man, that’s all I’m going to say.”
The Green Bay Packers head into their offseason in salary cap hell as they are $40 million over the cap and have a major decision when it comes to All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, who is not currently under contract.
