When it comes to sideline reporters, most fans realize that they have a close relationship with many players.
For longtime NFL sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson, they can be victims of unfair rumors if they just so happen to mention the idea of texting a player that they cover while the men reporters can get away with it without that same criticism.
“Setting the record straight: FEMALE REPORTERS CAN HAVE NON-ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH PLAYERS,” Andrews and Thompson’s podcast, Calm Down.
Back in June, Fox re-signed NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews to a three-year deal following an offseason that saw top broadcast team Joe Buck and Troy Aikman leave for ESPN.
In that same month, Amazon’s Thursday Night Football announced that Charissa Thompson would be the studio host for its primetime NFL telecasts.
Thompson will lead Amazon’s TNF pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage, joining analysts Richard Sherman, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tony Gonzalez.
