You can count Emmitt Smith in as one person who will not miss Kellen Moore.
Despite departing as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator nearly two weeks ago, current and former Dallas players have continued to share thoughts on the decision.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said, “I’m upset but I’m happy for him,” referencing Moore taking his talents to the Chargers after he and the Cowboys parted ways.
Dallas legend Emmitt Smith had a much different take.
During an appearance on Maggie and Perloff today, Smith said, “Under Kellen, I think we were just calling damn plays just to be calling plays…. We weren’t building on anything.”
Smith added he felt there was no flow to the Cowboys’ offense under Moore.

“There was nothing that established this that made sense to play off of that, and then go to here and here. It was just play calling, and every now and then we were going to throw in a little trick play. And the trick play would work sometime, and then sometimes it won’t and it would be a wasted play. Losing momentum, gaining momentum, it was just too much,” the former Cowboy stated.
The Cowboys have since replaced Moore with Brian Schottenheimer, who served as a coaching analyst with the Cowboys in 2022.
