For the second year in a row, Aaron Rodgers‘ future with the Green Bay Packers is unclear, especially after yet another playoff disappointment.
Rodgers has given no indication as to what his plans are, but if he is deciding to leave the only team he has known, former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has a reason as to why he should think otherwise.
“It was important for me to finish my career with the Giants, and I would think it would be important for him as well, just because of the legacy that he has, the history of Green Bay, being there as long as he has been, winning a championship and winning MVPs,” Manning said, via ESPN. “It’s not always greener on the other side. That’s what I had learned from talking to other people. You can go somewhere, and it’s not necessarily going to be better; it’s probably going to be worse.”
Eli then went on to mention his brother Peyton, who he stated never wanted to leave the Indianapolis Colts.
“Peyton never wanted to leave [the Colts]. He was kind of forced out,” Eli added. “He had the [neck] injury, they were going to draft Andrew Luck and he had to move. He wanted to keep playing, and it was a little different scenario.”
The Packers lost 13-10 to the 49ers on a walk-off field goal in the NFC divisional round at Lambeau Field. Rodgers, who went 20-for-29 passing, 225 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, told reporters he was “numb” from the loss, which dropped him to 0-4 all time vs. the Niners in the playoffs.
Rodgers said he would take time in the offseason to evaluate everything and have conversations with people before making a decision prior to the start of free agency.
