New York Giants legend and former starting quarterback Eli Manning delivered a special surprise to fans tailgating ahead of the team’s Week 11 home game against the Detroit Lions.
Tailgating is a widely popular tradition for football fans outside stadiums on gameday. For 16 years, Giants fans tailgated in preparation to see Manning lead his team on the field. This time, the two-time Super Bowl champion decided to join the party.
Manning joined the party and surprised a plethora of Giants fans, who went into a frenzy upon meeting the most accomplished signal-caller in franchise history.
Manning’s unexpected appearance was one of the few positives for Giants fans that day, as the team put up a stinker in a 31-18 home loss to the Detroit Lions. The Giants followed it up with a 28-20 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Thursday which dropped them to 7-4 on the season.
But still, good on Manning for giving these Giants fans the memory of a lifetime that they certainly weren’t expecting.
Eli and his older brother, fellow two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton, co-host the “ManningCast” on ESPN Monday Night Football. The program has become widely popular thanks to the interviews they do with special guests (celebrities, other NFL players, etc.) and humor to go along with the high football knowledge.

Manning spent his entire 16-year career with the Giants, which spanned from 2004 to 2019. He was actually drafted first overall by the San Diego Chargers, but after refusing to play for them, was sent to New York in a blockbuster deal that sent Philip Rivers the other way.
Manning is the franchise leader in practically every major passing category. But of course, his career is defined by those two Super Bowl victories over the dynastic New England Patriots in the 2007 and 2011 seasons.
