It looks like Eli Manning is feeling the pressure.
On Thursday, the New York Giants completely shocked everybody watching the draft when they selected Duke QB Daniel Jones with the 6th overall pick.
It’s not like the franchise wasn’t trying to get a replacement for the aging Manning, but the direction they went is what was most shocking.
Two weeks before the draft, Manning fully expected for the franchise to select a quarterback to take over for him one day, but he spoke as a man who believed he would be playing as the starter in 2019.
“I figure the Giants are going to get a young quarterback,” Manning said. “So I understand that. I still have to do my job, and I’ll do my part. And my job as I see it is to go out there and play quarterback and win football games.”
For years, the future hall of famer has had a weekly radio spot with New York host Mike Francesa’s radio show on WFAN, but something changed this time around as Eli inexplicably cancelled after the Giants grabbed Daniel Jones.

I’m guessing Manning thought the team would take a QB later on in the draft and not in the top-10. He clearly sees the writing on the wall.
