The Philadelphia Eagles have likely done something unprecedented this offseason as far as rosters go.
With more NFL teams considering running backs to be easily replaceable, the Eagles have found another way to show that as they have listed all four of the RBs on their 53-man roster as co-starters on the team depth chart, per ProFootballTalk.
Philly has one individual starter in 10 positions on offense. However, the 11th, the running back position, has Kenneth Gainwell, Rashaad Penny, Boston Scott, and D’Andre Swift all named as starters.
These players make up all of the RBs on the roster, so any one of them could be the primary ball carrier during any given week as the depth chart suggests they’re co-equals.
The team lost leading rusher Myles Sander to the Carolina Panthers in free agency but later traded for Swift, dealing a 2023 seventh-round pick swap and a fourth-round pick to the Detroit Lions in exchange.
They are keeping their first-choice rusher a secret for now, so it will be interesting to see how their RBs are utilized in the coming weeks.
