The Philadelphia Eagles will likely be without one of their top offensive playmakers for Sunday’s highly-anticipated Week 13 home tilt against the San Francisco 49ers.
On Friday, the Eagles provided their updated injury report ahead of the NFC Championship rematch. Standout tight end Dallas Goedert, who’s missed the last two games with a forearm injury, has been listed as doubtful:
Goedert suffered a fractured right forearm in the Eagles’ Week 9 win over the rival Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field. Philly was on a bye in Week 10, giving the 28-year-old Goedert extra time to nurse his injury.
The Eagles enter Sunday with the best record in football at 10-1. A win on Sunday would essentially end any hope the 49ers have of catching Philly for the NFC’s top seed, though the Cowboys (9-3), still have a chance to catch their division foes.
Philadelphia beat San Fran 31-7 in last year’s NFC Championship Game, but as everyone recalls, the 49ers were completely shorthanded that game. Starting QB Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL in his right throwing elbow in the first quarter, and backup Josh Johnson had to leave after suffering a concussion.
Purdy eventually came back, but the 49ers had to rely on the ground game with their star rookie QB physically limited. Just over 10 months later, the 49ers finally get their chance at comeuppance.
