Here’s something you don’t see very often in the NFL.
Two week ago, it was announced that the Miami Dolphins had hired Vic Fangio to be their new defensive coordinator. It was believed to be Fangio’s first job since being fired from his head coaching position with the Denver Broncos.
However, today it’s being reported that Fangio had actually “quietly signed” a two-week contract with the Philadelphia Eagles to help them prepare for their Super Bowl LVII matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
What’s even stranger about all of this is Fangio wasn’t brought aboard by the Eagles to help with their defense. Rather, he was signed to help Philly’s offense prepare for the Chiefs’ defense.
Fangio’s time with the Eagles will end after tonight’s game, as he’s expected to join the Dolphins and begin his job as their DC on Monday.
And if the Eagles can pull off the win over KC at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, he’ll have a shiny new Super Bowl ring to show off in front of his new team.
