The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t seem to be in any rush to get their offseason business done, yet it hardly means they aren’t making moves that could thrust them right back into Super Bowl contention.
Having lost a number of important players amid the break, the NFC champions are retooling. They’ve already taken care of priority No. 1 by extending Jalen Hurts to the most lucrative deal in NFL history. And now, it’s being rumored that they are set to trade for Tenessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.
That is according to Akbar Gbajabiamila, a former NFL defensive end who now hosts Ninja Warrior. Though not known for NFL scoops, Akbar is a former NFL reporter who shares the same agency as Henry. So the latter could give credence to his claim.
The Eagles have put themselves under added pressure to win, having extended Hurts. And, with Miles Sanders joining the Carolina Panthers earlier this year, bringing in a player of Henry’s caliber would be massive.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Henry was the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 and led the league in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in 2019 and 2020.
The 29-year-old is headed into the final year of his contract with the Titans and is due $10.5 million in 2023.

The Titans and Eagles have done such business before, with A.J. Brown shockingly leaving Tennessee for Philly in 2022 ahead of the latter’s run to Super Bowl 57.
