The Philadelphia Eagles will be without two of their star players when they visit the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium this Sunday.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles have ruled out rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter and veteran cornerback Darius Slay for Week 6. Carter injured his ankle in practice earlier this week, and Slay is nursing a knee injury.
The Eagles (5-0) are one of the last two remaining undefeated teams, along with the San Francisco 49ers. Philadelphia is coming off a close 23-14 road victory over Matthew Stafford’s Los Angeles Rams.
Carter was drafted ninth overall by the Eagles back in April. The Georgia product already has 3.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles through his first five games. As for Slay, he has one interception and four pass defenses through five contests.
The Eagles will visit a 2-3 Jets team that’s coming off a season-saving 31-31 victory over the Denver Broncos. New York snapped a three-game losing skid with the win, keeping them alive for the time being in the 2023 AFC playoff race.
After visiting the Jets, the reigning NFC Champions will return home for a Sunday night showdown in Week 7 against Tua Tagovailoa’s Miami Dolphins. Philadelphia will then travel to Washington to take on the Commanders before coming back home for a meeting with the Dallas Cowboys.
