Jason Kelce is one-of-a-kind. Those who didn’t already figure that our following his epic speech at the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade four years ago were given another reminder last night.
Prior to the Philadelphia 76ers’ game against the Denver Nuggets, Kelce was tasked with singing the national anthem. And the results were…well…I’ll let you listen and decide for yourself…
That was…different?
In case you’re wondering how or why this even happened in the first place, NBC Sports reported that Kelce had told former teammate Connor Barwin raise over $100,000 by the end of 2021 for his Make The World Better Foundation, he’d agree to sing the anthem. And when it was all said and done, Barwin’s charity raiser $114,000, which surpassed Kelce’s benchmark by $14,000.
That meant that Kelce had to sing, and we’re all very grateful for that.
Thankfully, Kelce won’t be quitting his day job anytime soon. The Eagles’ star offensive lineman re-signed with the team a few days earlier. The deal is for one year and $14-million, making him the highest paid center in the league.
