As an NFL quarterback, Philadelphia Eagles’ star Jalen Hurts knows that he’s putting his body on the line on every pass and rush attempt.
So maybe it shouldn’t surprise anybody that Hurts is willing to go all-out in non-competitive recreational sporting events…such as the charity softball game held by teammate and wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
Philly’s star wideout held his second annual charity softball game in Allenstown, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Hurts was among the participants in the contest, and though the game was simply for a good cause, it didn’t stop the 24-year-old QB from putting his leg on the line on this base slide:
Obviously, a painful-looking burn on a baseball slide like that is nothing compared to being hit by 250-300 pound defensive linemen. That could explain why Hurts was able to get up and shrug off the burn so quickly.
The former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback is coming off a career year in which he completed 66.5 percent of pass attempts for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns against six interceptions. Hurts was also a machine on the ground, racking up 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 165 carries. Hurts helped the Eagles to the NFC’s best record (14-3) and to a Super Bowl 57 appearance, where they narrowly fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in a last-second heartbreaker.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Eagles handed their star quarterback a five-year contract extension worth $255 million.
