Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has attracted some criticism following the press conference that followed his team’s marginal win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Sirianni, who is believed to be on the hot seat, isn’t the most popular man in Philly right now. He was seen jawing his own fans on the sideline during Sunday’s 20-14 win and didn’t do himself any favors after showing up to his post-game presser with his three children.
The move has earned him some stick, as he stands accused of using his kids as “human shields.”
“If the Eagles aren’t having serious internal discussions about their direction after that press conference I’ll be floored.” Philly radio host John Kincade wrote in a social media post. “Howard Dean would have come off better. No NFL Coach acts like that and brings human shields with them proceeding to cuss frequently.”
Sirianni has also received backlash from former NFL offensive lineman Damien Woody, who called him a “clown” on ESPN’s “Get Up!” on Monday morning.
“It’s clown behavior. Nick Sirianni looked like an absolute clown doing all of that… and then to have your kids in the postgame to kind of deflect from reporters trying to come after you, it’s lame, it’s weak, he’s a clown. It just looks ridiculous,” Woody declared.

Nick Sirianni Can’t Catch A Break
The Eagles HC has also been criticized for claiming that his back-and-forth with fans was “all out of fun.”
Sirianni will feel he should have been treated to a better reception after a win. He will also feel like he should be handed a break because he didn’t have his primary receivers for multiple games.
But it doesn’t appear that the crosshairs will shift anytime soon.
Of course, Sirianni should return to fans’ good graces if he can make a decent season of what has been a mess so far. But, at 3-2, Philadelphia is only one win away from the top spot in the NFC East, so there’s hope yet.
