Jalen Hurts is struggling mightily during his first ever playoff start, and it appears as though Eagles fans have seen enough.
Through three quarters of play, the second year quarterback has two interceptions and just 140 passing yards. He’s also completed just 50 percent of his pass attempts, as the Eagles are being shut out by the defending champs, 31-0.
During week 13 of the regular season, Eagles backup QB Gardner Minshew was called upon to fill in for a injured Hurts. All he did was light up the Jets’ secondary for 242 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-18 victory. Minshew was efficient, completing 20 of his 25 pass attempts. It was enough to leave many wondering whether he was worth of the starting role over Hurts.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni quickly threw a bucket of water on that fire, assuring the media that Hurts was the guy in Philly. But three quarters into Sunday’s wild card game, those questions have reemerged, as Eagles fans have taken to twitter to call for a quarterback change with their offense sputtering against the Bucs.
