Nick Sirianni is reportedly making some changes on the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coaching staff ahead of their Week 15 “Monday Night Football” clash with the Seattle Seahawks.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, defensive coordinator Sean Desai will be in the booth on Monday night, while defensive assistant Matt Patricia will serve as the defensive play-caller from the sidelines.
The former Detroit Lions head coach and longtime New England Patriots assistant won three Super Bowls as a member of Bill Belichick’s staff, with the final two coming as the club’s DC (2014 and 2016). The Eagles hired him as a defensive assistant after DC Jonathan Gannon left for the Arizona Cardinals’ head coaching job.
Philadelphia had the No. 8 scoring D in football last year, allowing 20.2 points per game. Despite bringing back most of last year’s starters, coupled with the arrival of rookie sensation Jalen Carter, the unit has inexplicably regressed by a wide margin this year.
The Eagles entered Sunday with the league’s fifth-worst scoring defense, allowing 24.7 points per game through their first 13 games.
