The Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Dallas this weekend to take on the Cowboys in a big-time battle between NFC East contenders.
It’s a battle between two of the top teams in the league right now, but there will be a noticeable absence on the field at AT&T on Saturday.
Earlier today, it was announced by Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni that Gardner Minshew would get the start under center for Philly. Jalen Hurts has been battling a sprain in his throwing shoulder, and while he did everything he could to suit up this weekend, the team has decided that rest and rehab are the best option for their start quarterback and MVP front-runner.
The Eagles only need one more win to clinch the top spot in the NFC and a first round bye. Their three remaining games are against the Cowboys, Saints and Giants.
Minshew started two games for the Eagles last year, totaling 428 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception. One of those starts came against the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the season.

With nothing to play for and many of the Eagles players resting for the playoffs, Minshew played with mostly second-stringers and completed 19 of his 33 pass attempts for 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. The Eagles would go on to lose that game by a score of 51-26.
