If the Redskins do in fact change their team name, they have a suggestion from their starting quarterback.
Second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins took to his Twitter account on Friday and gave his take on what name the team should go with.
“I like the redtails,” he said in the tweet, adding a thinking-face emoji.
Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller jokingly suggested that Washington change its team name to the Buckeyes, given the team currently has wide receiver Terry McLaurin, defensive end Chase Young, as well as Haskins who were all teammates back in college.
Redtails celebrates Tuskegee Airmen, who were a group of African-American and Caribbean-born military pilots fighting for the United States in World War II.
The name as well as the colors would allow Washington to keep their current color scheme should they choose to go with it.
