Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off the field with a left leg injury in the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Washington Football Team on Sunday. It was a horrible moment for the rookie who ended his day completing 22 of 34 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown.
Early in the third quarter, Burrow was drilled high by Washington defensive end Montez Sweat and hit low by defensive lineman Jonathan Allen while throwing a pass, and his leg bent awkwardly.
The former LSU Tigers star has since announced that he won’t return this season.
“Thanks for all the love. Can’t get rid of me that easy. See ya next year,” Burrow tweeted.
Washington Football Team second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins was among those who consoled Burrow after his injury. He would take to Twitter after the game with a message following his injury.
“Love u bro. Get well soon,” Haskins wrote to Burrow.
