There are no words to describe just how heartbreaking the loss of Dwayne Haskins really is. The young man was only 24 when he was struck by a dump truck on a highway in South Florida earlier today.
Haskins was down south with his teammates, training with fellow Steelers players as they gear up for the 2022 season. He even shared some footage from his team getaway on Instagram yesterday. In one of the videos he posted, the young QB could be heard playfully commenting on running back Najee Harris’ fashionable attire.
It’s almost unfathomable to think that less than 24 hours later, he would lose his life in a tragic accident. It just goes to show how fragile life can be. This was a man who still had his whole life ahead of him.
Haskins had only been in the NFL for three years, spending the first two in Washington before signing on with the Steelers. He seemed to be finding his place on the Steelers roster over the past year after struggling to make things work in D.C. It’s beyond sad to think that we won’t get to see how his career unfolds after everything he’s been through.
