The estate of Dwayne Haskins has reached a combined settlement with the driver, owner, and broker of the dump truck that caused his death last year.
A lawyer representing the widow of the late quarterback has revealed as much, though steering clear of revealing the terms of the settlement.
Haskins, who was 24 at the time of his death, was selected as the No. 15 overall pick by the Washington Commanders in 2019. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers two years later.
The former Ohio State star was struck while walking along a highway in South Florida last April.
His family filed a lawsuit this March, accusing the truck driver of speeding, driving recklessly, and traveling with a weight that was above the legal limit. The suit also named the owner of the truck, as well as his company, while pointing to negligence by the Florida Department of Transportation, the rental car company, and the contractor providing signage along the 1-595.
Kalabrya Haskins’ attorney, Rick Ellsley, states that settlements have also been reached with ”various other parties” while a case against multiple other defendants remains in the Broward County Circuit Court.

Haskins’ estate also alleges that the deceased QB was a target of “blackmail and conspiracy” and was drugged on the night of his death, naming two restaurants, a golf course driving range, and a hotel as defendants.
