The man who preceded Brady as New England’s starting quarterback thinks there are only two teams he would think about going to if he doesn’t return to New England.
Drew Bledsoe had an appearance on CBS Radio’s “The Zach Gelb Show” where he suggested Brady might feel rejuvenated by a fresh start with a new team. He proceeded to list the only two other teams he would even consider joining right now.
“I think it would be strange for everybody if that happened,” he told the Zach Gelb Show Tuesday. “If he does decide he’s going to go someplace else, it has to be a very specific fit. They’ve got to have most of the pieces in place already. He’s not going to go to a rebuild.
Outside of [Los Angeles and Indianapolis], it’s kind of hard to envision him going someplace else.”
The Chargers boast a strong group of skill players, with receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams and tight end Hunter Henry, but they have severe question marks with their offensive line as well as the coaching staff that wouldn’t be up to par as he has been accustomed to in New England.
The Colts actually have a strong offensive line, and while they might have a tremendous pass-catcher in TY Hilton, they also boast plenty of draft capital and cap space to acquire a solid group of offensive skill players.
“It would be pretty strange, but it would also be a pretty interesting story to see what Tommy can do elsewhere, to see what Belichick can do without Tommy pulling the trigger for him. It would be an interesting story line, but it would be awfully weird.”
